This will be Apatow’s first directing turn since last year’s hit Knocked Up. He is also the sole writer on the film and is keeping plot details hush-hush.
Rogen and Mann (who is married to Apatow in real life) starred in Knocked Up and Apatow’s previous film as director, The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
As for Sandler, his latest comedy, Don't Mess with the Zohan was co-written by Apatow and will be released in June.
Keeping things in the family, Mann is next starring in Drillbit Taylor with Owen Wilson. That film was co-written by Rogen and produced by Apatow.
Apatow has been on a white-hot streak since directing Virgin in 2005. He followed that film up by producing Will Ferrell vehicle Talladega Nights and teen comedy Superbad--in between he directed, wrote and produced Knocked Up. However, last year’s Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which Apatow co-wrote and produced, stumbled at the box office.
His other upcoming producing projects include Forgetting Sarah Marshall with Jason Segel and Kristen Bell; Pineapple Express with Rogen and James Franco; Step Brothers starring Ferrell and John C. Reilly; and The Year One, which Harold Ramis is directing and which stars Jack Black, Michael Cera and Olivia Wilde.
Upcoming non-Apatow related projects for the stars include Bedtime Stories, which Sandler is currently shooting, and 17 Again for Mann, alongside Zac Efron. Rogen lent his voice to Horton Hears a Who and is also in the process of shooting Kevin Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno.
