The super-hero flick was due in theaters March 6, but a battle between Warners and 20th Century Fox over the film’s distribution rights could delay the release.
The Associated Press reports that U.S. District Court Judge Gary Feess sided with Fox last week and agreed that Warners had infringed on its copyright by shooting the film based on the popular graphic novel.
Fox made a deal over the story rights to Watchmen back in the 1980s and claim they never fully relinquished those rights. Fox sued Warners in February, but they contended that Fox wasn’t entitled to distribution rights.
Warners is so confident they will win the case in trial or appeal they refuse to move the opening date.
