Pack your bags, because Charlize Theron is getting ready to take audiences on a terrifying trip in her newest thriller, Dark Places. The actress is co-producing an adaptation of the bestselling novel by Gillian Flynn, and the movie is slowly but surely coming together. Deadline reports that 16-year-old Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass, Dark Shadows) is the next big name to sign onto the flick.
Theron is reportedly set to play Libby Day, a woman who, at the the age of 7, survives the horrifying experience of watching her entire family massacred in what appears to be a satanic cult ritual. Day escapes and later testifies against her older teenage brother, Ben, as the murderer.
Now, 25 years later, Day must relive the terrors of past when a group obsessed with solving infamous crimes, known as the Kill Club, believe her brother was not responsible for the traumatic event and she searches for the truth.
Mortez is set to play a sleezy character known as Diondra Wertzner, Ben’s girlfriend and a leading suspect in Day’s quest to find out who really murdered her family.
