Zoe Saldana has worn a red Starfleet jumper as Star Trek's communications officer, Uhura, and was pixel-painted with blue skin as the Na'vi warrior princess Neytiri in Avatar. But she's only just getting started as far as brightly-colored sci-fi is concerned.
Hollywood.com has confirmed that Saldana is in talks to play Gamora, a green-skinned humanoid assassin in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, directed by James Gunn (Slither).
The superhero movie (currently slated by Disney for an Aug. 1, 2014) release date, stars Parks & Recreation's Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, who heads up a team of interstellar heroes to protect the galaxy from all manner of terrible threats. Gamora is part of the team, as is Drax the Destroyer (played by Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon, who must be a big Beatles fan, and Groot, a giant tree-man.
Guardians of the Galaxy is expected to begin production in June.
