Chevy Chase is no longer on NBC's Community, but we will get to see him reunite with co-star Gillian Jacobs on the sequel to Hot Tub Time Machine. Chase appeared in the first film as the mysterious hot tub repair man, but Jacobs is new to the franchise. She will play the female lead, but other than that there's no mention of how her character will fit into the story.
Chase and Jacobs aren't the only Greendale Community College students who will be in the Hot Tub Time Machine sequel. Rob Corddry (who is also reprising his role form the first film) has showed up on Community a few times as a lawyer who proves the nemesis of Jeff Winger (Joel McHale).
The sequel takes us into the future, rather than back to the past, where the time travelers meet Adam Scott's character. He plays the son of John Cusack's character in the first film. Cusack will not return.
So Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is shaping up to be a reunion of the stars of Community (and other NBC comedies). Now they just need to add Joel McHale to the cast, because no one would be mad about seeing him in a hot tub.
