It seems like only yesterday we entered the world of Video on Instagram. (Actually, it was three weeks ago, but close enough.) Now, it seems we've turned a brand new corner. On Monday morning, the studio behind the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic presented us with the world's first Instagram trailer.

In the 15-second video, we see Ashton Kutcher in a variety of scenes as Steve Jobs  shirtless and screaming, standing in a field, drinking a beer, working on a computer, giving a lecture, etc  and we hear the star repeat Jobs' famous words in a voiceover: "Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do."

It was certainly fitting that the trailer for a biopic about Steve Jobs, the famous innovator and proponent of thinking outside the box, be presented in an original, groundbreaking form. But we also can't help but ask ourselves: what does this first-ever Instagram trailer mean for the future of movie trailers? Or even the future of movies? Only 15 seconds long, yet so packed with blink-and-you'll-miss-it images and an inspiring voiceover, this Jobs instagram trailer is certainly redefining the concept of a teaser.

Even so, is 15 seconds enough to really qualify as a trailer? Do we like this form of publicity? How do we feel about the fact that movie trailers may now be available on our Instagram feeds, crammed in between the enhanced, filtered photos of sunsets from our cousin's vacation, selfies of our best friend with her favorite cat, and Kim Kardashian's manicure nailstagram? All in a perfect square.

This is certainly not the first time a website or web application has progressed in a direction beyond its original purpose. After all, we're living in world of complete TV series produced by and avilable only on Netflix and YouTube. With this latest innovation in the intersection of film and social media, we can't help but wonder: what's next? Facebook movies? Twitter TV? The possibilities are endless.

Jobs hits theaters August 16.
