According to Deadline, Brie Larson is in negotiations to star in the upcoming remake of The Gambler with Mark Wahlberg. The original 1974 flick was based on a novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and tells the story of a literary professor that suffers from a crippling gambling addiction. The original film garnered James Caan a Golden Globe nod for his performance. Brie Larson has been a surefire bet for Hollywood as of late, starring in a number of projects that display her versatility as an actress. She received raves for her role as a social worker in Short Term 12, and has appeared in comedies like 21 Jump street and Don Jon. She even visited Greendale Community College for a season 4 episode of Community.
Along with Larson, Jessica Lange is also being considered for a role in the film. Lange is already doling out a weekly dose of scares on her FX drama series American Horror Story. The legendary actress will help add even more acting prowess to a film that seems to be culling performers from all over the cinematic landscape.Follow @Hollywood_com Follow @CurrentlyJordan
