Exclusive Clip from ‘The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3’

It’s been a while since we’ve seen Denzel Washington on the big screen. After scoring back-to-back hits with the formidable Bad Denzel/Good Denzel combo of American Gangster and The Great Debaters in late 2007, the Oscar-winning actor/director sat out all of 2008 and much of 2009, leaving a crushing Denzel void at the multiplex that poor Denzel Whitaker could never hope to fill.

Thankfully, Washington returns (in Good Denzel form this time) to theaters on June 12, opposite John Travolta in The Taking of Pelham 123, director Tony Scott’s big-budget remake of the 1974 Walter Matthau thriller. We were lucky enough to get our hands on an exclusive clip from the movie, in which Travolta’s would-be subway hijacker “Ryder” decides to ring up New York City Transit dispatcher Walter Garber (played by Washington, wearing a studded earring to signify that he’s cool) to inform him of his plans.

Something tells us he’s going to regret that later on.
