Warner Bros. is developing a sequel to the 1983 comedy classic National Lampoon's Vacation with David Dobkin (Wedding Crashers) set to produce and possibly direct.

No writers are yet attached to pen the screenplay but the story will focus on Rusty Griswold, the son of Clark Griswold (played by Chevy Chase in the original), is now a father in his own right and takes his family on a road trip vacation.

The characters would acknowledge that first trip, making the movie more of a sequel than a reboot.

Chase and and the original film's mother, Beverly D'Angelo, will have room to make appearances as grandparents though deals are not yet in place for them.
