The list of Best Animated Feature contenders for the next Academy Awards was unveiled on Wednesday – and Up made the cut!
All kidding aside, the Pixar blockbuster was a shoo-in and might actually find its way into the 10-strong Best Picture category.
Also present on the list of 20 contenders -- which will eventually be narrowed down to five or six total nominees (depending upon whether or not a few of the films are eliminated based on their release dates) -- are the recently released Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and A Christmas Carol as well as the soon-to-be-released Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Planet 51 and The Princess and the Frog.
The nominations for the 82nd Academy Awards will be announced Feb. 2; the ceremony will take place March. 7.
