Just when you thought it was over, they pull you back in! 20th Century Fox made a bundle from last Summer's Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs. In fact, both sequels to the 2002 original have made more that it did back then. It should come as no surprise, then, that the studio and production company Blue Sky Studios now have a fourth film in the franchise in development.

Variety reports that they've set a July 13, 2012 release date for Ice Age: Continental Drift, a film that will hit both standard and 3D theaters in between Sony's new Spider-Man film and Warner Bros. recently announced third Batman picture.

With $2 billion in worldwide grosses, continuing the beloved animated series is a no-brainer for Fox. Flush with funds after one of their best years ever (2009 gave the studio hits like Avatar, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian and Taken, among others), the studio is eager to capitalize on cash cow-franchises and pre-sold properties, as evident in their 2010 slate which includes Predators, The A-Team, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.
