If you thought that Ruben Fleischer's follow up to Zombieland couldn't get any funnier with Aziz Ansari and Danny McBride in the cast, think again. The Hollywood Reporter scoops that Michael Pena and Nick Swardson have joined the director's sophomore comedy, 30 Minutes Or Less, as well. Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan wrote the script for the 2011 Universal Pictures release which will begin shooting this summer
The film centers on a junior high history teacher (Ansari) and a pizza-delivery man who are forced to rob a bank when one of them is strapped to a bomb vest. McBride is one of the men looking to score some cash. Pena will play a tatooed assassin, while Swardson will play McBride's best friend.
Pena wasn't always known as a comedic actor, but his crazed turn in Observe and Report was one of the only good things about the film, so I'll be happy to see him in a genuine laugh fest like this promises to be. As for the rest of the cast, they are all quickly becoming some of the most recognizable funny men in the industry and Fleischer is a young filmmaker to watch as he's sure to have a lucrative career ahead of him. Count me in on this one.
