Now that he’s done Partying Down, Adam Scott is moving on. While I’m devastated that he can’t continue his role as Henry Pollard, it’s good to see that he’s enlisting alongside some fairly good company. He joins Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, and Jennifer Westfeldt in her upcoming project, Friends With Kids.
Scott’s participation in a slew of Funny or Die videos and his stint on Parks and Recreation were able to tide us over while he stacked up some meatier projects, and they served as a nice little amuse-bouche for what looks to have potential as a fairly successful film career. (Sure, he was in Piranha 3D, but it was fun so we’ll let it slide.) Now, with this project and costars like Hamm and Wiig, I’m hopeful that we’ll be seeing a lot more of him.
Westfeldt’s script is meant as a follow-up to the indie hit, Kissing Jessica Stein, and is about, well, childless adults who have friends with kids. Other plot details are few and far between, but I think we know as much as we need to for now. Westfeldt will make her directorial debut and star in the film as well, though she had hoped for Anne Hathaway who eschewed the role for another film. (Sorry lady, you got Jon Hamm to fall in love with you and star in your movie; you can’t have everything, okay?) Scott was among a handful of actors who did a reading of Westfeldt’s script at a theater festival, but it’s unknown whether any of his preview companions are set to join the cast as well.
