Ouch. That’s got to hurt. Even though I may be tired of hearing about every time Brad and Angelina do anything or go anywhere, I have to admit, I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of seeing him onscreen. Unfortunately, for those behind the upcoming film The Lost City of Z, they’ll no longer be able to depend on people like me, who’d blindly pay 13 bucks to see Pitt in just about anything.
Paramount Picture’s production was to star Pitt as Col. Percy Fawcett, who mysteriously disappeared while leading an expedition in Brazil in 1925. The film is based on a non-fiction book of the same name. Pitt disappeared not so mysteriously from the film’s roster over a supposed issue with the paycheck for James Gray, who’s slated to direct Lost City. I guess now they’ll start the hunt for his replacement, and my one and only request is that they don’t choose Nicholas Cage. (Yes, I have an extreme aversion to him and I will continue to hope he’s not cast in anything I may possibly watch. Deal with it.)
Lucky for Pitt fans like me, there is plenty of action headed his way. He’s actually slated to make a return to a more comedic role (other than the character he voices in this month’s Megamind) with the upcoming Cogan’s Trade, is a mobster comedy. Yep. Crime and guns and jokes about whacking people with those guns. Pitt is slated to produce and star in the film, and while I love to see get dramatic, I’m pretty excited to see him his lighter side again. Think back to Burn After Reading and try to tell me you weren’t letting out some serious belly laughs courtesy of Mr. Pitt's Chad Feldheimer. The news about Cogan’s Trade broke yesterday, and now that we’ve learned he’s parted ways with Lost City, it’s all starting to make sense.
