Confirming months of gestating rumors, Martin Scorsese has stated that he will be working once again with his Raging Bull star Robert De Niro in The Irishman. The film, based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses, revolves around gangsters and hitmen (surprise) and could possibly be stretched to a pair films, something Scorsese and De Niro both admit is Fellini influenced. The name drop hints that the film could be autobiographical for the two titans of American film considering Fellini’s masterpieces of Italian cinema (8 ½ and La Dolce Vita) are themselves autobiographical. Needless to say, we’re glad De Niro finally found his balls again and isn’t making another focking movie.
