Sienna Miller is the latest actress to sign up for Garry Marshall's glitzy sequel to his 2010 hit Valentine's Day. New Year's Eve will reunite screenwriter Katherine Fugate with the veteran filmmaker and Jessica Biel and Ashton Kutcher will also carry over into the new film, though they will play different characters than they did in the original.
Already cast newcomers include Lea Michele, Abigail Breslin, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Til Schweiger, Hilary Swank and Robert De Niro. Like Valentine's Day, the film will follow intertwining stories of characters trying to navigate their way through romance - only this time it will be set on New Year's Eve in Manhattan. Second Unit production is already underway (a large shoot took place in Times Square over the holiday), but principle photography should begin soon as the cast continues to fall into place.
For Miller, it represents a return to studio productions. The sexy actress hasn't appeared in a film in the US since 2009's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Hopefully New Year's Day will open a few doors for her, because I'm not holding my breath waiting for a sequel to that stinker...
