I just hate it when a movie that sounds promising takes forever to get to theaters - especially one directed by the legendary John Carpenter. The man behind Halloween and Escape From New York hasn't helmed a feature since 2001's Ghosts Of Mars and I don't think he wants that to be the end of his legacy. Luckily, the auteur will soon return to his roots with a new low-budget horror thriller.
The Ward stars Amber Heard as an institutionalized young woman who becomes terrorized by a ghost. Yes, the premise is a tired, but a master of thrills like Carpenter surely has some tricks up his sleeve with this one. The film premiered at 2010's Toronto International Film Festival but doesn't yet have US distribution. No matter: I'm sure it'll fit nicely into the release schedule this October.
