Apparently, DreamWorks Animation believes that if you're a beautiful person, you have a beautiful voice. Hugh Jackman, Chris Pine, Jude Law, Alec Baldwin and Isla Fisher have all signed on to voice lead roles in the upcoming 3D animated feature, Rise of the Guardians.
Based on the children's books by William Joyce, the film was penned by Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire and will be directed by Peter Ramsey. According to Variety, the film "follows a group of heroic childhood legends, each with extraordinary abilities. When Pitch (Law), an evil spirit akin to the boogeyman, lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces for the first time to protect the hopes, beliefs and imaginations of children all over the world."
Frankly, this sounds awesome. Though Pixar has always overshadowed the animated market, DreamWorks Animation has spent the past couple of years steadily releasing critical gems like How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, and Monsters vs. Aliens. From the plot outline, Rise of the Guardians seems like an inspirational tale that kids will aspire to, which is what animated movies should be about. Plus? Isla Fisher. Yup.
