Simon West’s new film, a remake of Charles Bronson’s The Mechanic, hits theaters today and its stars are no strangers to the kind of high-octane action that it contains. True, Jason Statham’s body count beats the hell out of his apprentice Ben Foster’s, but in looking through their respective resumes I’ve found that each has delivered, and been given, many an ass-kicking.
Foster receives the brunt of the beating in the events leading up to this clip, but with bloodied face and bad attitude he proves that taking a few blows to the brain and body can look just as bad-ass as giving them.
Jason Statham as Frank Martin in Transporter 3 Parts of this sequence were used in an early trailer to tease the return of Frank Martin. It’s a great reintroduction to a character born and bred for one thing: kicking ass without taking names.
Jason Statham as Crawford in WAR This film marked a true clash of the titans: Statham vs. Jet Li. And in this climactic scene from the film we learn that Statham is one of the greatest living action icons in the world not only because he knows how to throw a punch, but because he can take one as well.
Ben Foster as Jake Mazursky in Alpha Dog It was hard for me to find a full clip of this extremely violent sequence from Nick Cassavetes 2007crime thriller. But even in this brief looped sequence, which shows what happens when a brave female partygoer gets in Foster’s way, you can see why he’s not to be fucked with.
Jason Statham as Monk in Mean Machine This little seen British version of The Longest Yard has more than a few beautifully choreographed fight scenes, but none is quite as brutal as Statham’s systematic termination of an entire soccer team. Ben Foster as Charlie Prince in 3:10 To Yuma Foster created one of the coolest characters in recent Western memory in James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma remake. Charlie Prince is a ruthless, cold-blooded killer and this montage shows exactly how and why he outshined his big-time co-stars Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in the unforgiving film. Jason Statham as Lee Christmas in The Expendables The highest-quality clip I could find of this sequence from last summer’s action spectacular was in German. If you think the language barrier takes away from the effect of the massacre, I can assure you that nothing here is lost in translation. Jason Statham as Chev Chelios in Crank: High Voltage One of Statham’s most ludicrous films (now that’s saying something), Crank and its sequel High Voltage boast many brain-boggling stunts. This clip gives you just a taste of the bone-crunching, bullet-flinging action found within its frames.
