It's the weekend of 3D movie news. First we find out when we can see Martin Scorsese's first flick in the new format and now we find that Baz Luhrmann will be taking his adaptation of The Great Gatsby into three dimensional territory. I don't know about this. The 3D format works for films that are more about action, but The Great Gatsby requires a little more finesse than I think the 3D format can allow. Also on the list of questionable decisions is the choice to film Gatsby in Australia at Fox Studios instead of on New York's Long Island where the novel is actually set. The one light in this cloud of questionable decisions is the fact that Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star and Carey Mulligan has been offered the role of Daisy. Hopefully these bright spots can shine brighter than the odd creative decisions that Luhrmann has put in place.
