It looks like we've got another actor turning to directing. Meg Ryan is the latest thespian to travel behind the camera and sit in the big boy’s chair. The first feature she'll direct, Into the Beautiful, is described as an updated version The Big Chill.
This sounds like the right kind of project for a first time actor turned director. The Big Chill is a great movie that isn’t exactly visually stunning. Instead it focuses more on the dialogue and character work which Ryan is more familiar with (or at least we would hope so). While I’m not exactly sold on the idea that The Big Chill needs to be updated, I am curious to see how Ryan will do as a director. Color me intrigued.
