It looks like Zack Snyder's trying to go all Christopher Nolan with his Man of Steel script, leaving us to chase after any scraps of information we can possibly track down. (Like that time Gary Oldman said the villain in The Dark Knight Rises is from the old comics and we totally ate it up.) The latest scrap of intel comes from Superman's new mommy, Diane Lane.
In an interview with E!, she confessed that while she's not allowed her own copy of the script, they were kind enough to lock her in a room for three hours so she could read over it once. Obviously, she's sworn to secrecy as far as the details go, but she did give us a little tiny bit to go on:
"I was locked in a room with the script and was only allowed three hours with it. I nailed it into my memory. I'm really excited. I'm really not allowed to talk much about it, I think, but it does cover the entire range of years, from infancy on."
Well, that does confirm a piece of one theory that was floating around -- the idea that Snyder could be basing his version off of Superman: The Secret Origins, which includes the transformation from a boy into a superhero. Either way, we now know that we'll get to see the man of steel go from freakishly strong baby to Henry Cavill (which is something every man would be lucky to do, amirite?) and it looks like Snyder has got a project that's exactly what we expected when he took the job. Lane says of the script, "But this is going to be a whole reinvention. A visitation and a reinvention." Good. That's exactly what we're hoping for; good thing they're on track.
Alright folks, there you have the tiny information nuggets. Now get to theorizing! Or just wait patiently for more information to surface, but let's face it, that's too hard.
