ALTKristin Wiig's Bridesmaids continues to climb the summer box office mountain after garnering tons of positive reviews and she doesn't appear to be slowing down. Instead of taking the easy road (looking at you Hangover 2), Wiig is side-stepping sequelization in favor of putting into motion a smaller, darker film.

The Playlist originally got word over a year ago that Wiig was in talks to team up with American Splendor and HBO's Cinema Verite directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini on the dark comedy Imogene and now Hollywood Reporter has confirmed the news. The film will star Wiig as a playwright who fakes suicide in order to win her ex-boyfriend back. As all good twisted comedies go, pretending to die never goes as smoothly as one expects, and Wiig finds herself under the thumb of her gambling mother.

The movie is set to roll this summer and should be one of Wiig's most challenging roles to date. We're all for it -- she knocked the comedy out of the park in Bridesmaids and we're ready to see what else this rising star can do.
