Soderbergh, you're either a poignant sophisticado capable of pinpointing the art in even the bleakest and rawest of earthly channels... or you're just a lonely, lonely man. Either way, your stripper movie Magic Mike is big news, and the pulse won't shut up about its casting—speaking of which, Jessica Biel is in.
Biel will play a stripper in Magic Mike, a comedy centered around the lives of exotic dancers of both genders. Already cast are Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer and Riley Keough. Biel's character is Amber, a love interest to Tatum's Mike Martingano. Apparently, this was a role of lavish real estate: originally being considered in attachment to the role was Lindsay Lohan, but Soderbergh decided not to traverse those waters.
Clearly he wanted someone with more experience. After all, this will not be Biel's first time playing a stripper. Just two years ago, Biel starred opposite Ray Liotta and Forest Whitaker in Powder Blue, marking her first time performing as a dancer of poles.
Filming for the movie begins next month, in Florida... which is good, since they'd probably get pretty cold elsewhere.
