Considering the book series' immense popularity, the populace unfamiliar with the story of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is rapidly diminishing. For those who never took an interest in the novels, however, I can almost guarantee: this trailer will hook you. Trust me; I'm one of you.
In this new adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Daniel Craig stars as Mikael Blomkvist, a formerly prominent magazine publisher who was ousted from public admiration after writing a libelous story. Beside Craig is Rooney Mara, playing the intriguing and disturbed hacker-genius Lisbeth Salander. The impressive cast also includes Christopher Plummer as Henrik Vanger, a CEO who hires (and possibly double-crosses) Blomkvist, Stellan Skarsgard as Martin Vanger, brother of a missing girl whose disappearance Blomkvist and Mara are investigating, and Robin Wright as Erika Berger, Blomkvist's former partner and lover.
The story is heavy with intrigue, betrayal and psychological overtones. Although the trailer might be difficult to follow for people who aren't totally familiar with the plotline, it does make you really want to know more. I guess that's what the movie is for.
