And at long last, Netflix will complete its AMC trifecta. News today is that Netflix has finalized a deal with the network for exclusive streaming rights to the remarkable first season of The Walking Dead. Entertainment Weekly describes the deal as "multi-year," which is ambiguous, but good news for anyone who A) has Netflix and B) really wants to catch up on The Walking Dead, but C) can't yet, because he/she is going to be spending the next twelve months on an Amish reservation.
This deal will also extend to future season of The Walking Dead. The second season begins Sunday, October 16 at 9 pm ET on AMC.
The Walking Dead's first season was short, yes, but it was ferociously entertaining. Officer Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) awakens in a hospital bed to find that his Atlanta hometown has turned into a wasteland filled with walking, feasting corpses, and decides he will do whatever he can to reunite with his wife and son, whom he is sure are still alive, and out there.
