Mindy Kaling Makes Life Worth Living by Writing & Starring In New Primetime Cartoon

Dec 08, 2011 | 6:18am EST

Mindy KalingThere are a few things that it is imperative to like in order to be considered an acceptable human being. Among them: dogs, cartoons, and Mindy Kaling. For those of you who are allergic to dogs, we have the best story imaginable for you—Mindy Kaling, the wonderful writer and actor who stars on The Office as Kelly Kapoor, is writing and starring in her own cartoon series for NBC. And the world just got a little sunnier.

Kaling is teaming with executive producer Greg Daniels, the man who helped to bring us both The Office and the unstoppable Parks and Recreation, to develop the animated show. Reportedly, the series will focus on a high school girl's volleyball team.

Just as Tina Fey became all that anyone could talk about a couple of years back, I think the Era of Kaling is about to be underway. Her new book of observational comedy, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? remains on The New York Times' bestsellers list. So, for those of you not already on the bandwagon, I recommend hitching soon, for the sake of your popularity. Next Big Thing Alert.
