The day has finally come to celebrate! Build your blanket forts, mix your Special Drink, head downtown to the Red Door (or L Street) and book Greene Daye for the party: Community is back on NBC! The man behind the series, Dan Harmon, has Tweeted that our beloved Community will be returning to its old time slot of 8 p.m. ET/PT on Thursday, March 15.
Ever since we learned last November that Community would be absent from NBC's spring schedule, things looked bleak for the series. Its low ratings, resultant of niche humor, seemed to indicate that we might be bidding a premature farewell to Greendale Community College. Last month, we got word that Community would indeed be back sometime this spring...but the uncertainty of the return date still kept us uneasy. Now that the great Dan Harmon has provided us with a date and time, I'm sure we can all rest easy...after an ample celebration, that is.
The current occupant of Thursday's 8 p.m. slot, 30 Rock, will be pushed to 8:30 p.m., while Parks and Recreation (presently on at 8:30) will be placed on hiatus until April 19. While we'll all be sad to bid a temporary farewell to Parks and Rec, it doesn't inspire the same sense of anxiety over the show's fate. The Emmy contender that is Parks has a safer home on NBC than does its counterpart Community.
Thus, we're focusing on the positives. Community is back. Parks will be back. Let's get back to celebrating. Put on an Inspector Spacetime marathon. Throw a Pulp Fiction-themed surprise party. And enjoy a few rounds on the secret trampoline. But no double-bouncing.
