If you enjoyed the recent musical stylings of Nick Jonas on the NBC hit show, Smash, you'll be pleased to hear he's scheduled to return to the musical drama in a very big way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the singer-actor will reprise his guest role as the young, yet extremely successful, Lyle West on the May 14 season finale.
Jonas' character first appeared on Feb. 27 as a former Broadway baby and current sitcom star who previously worked with Tom (Christian Borle), Derek (Jack Davenport) and Eileen (Anjelica Huston) before fame and fortune found him. During the episode, Lyle struck a deal with Eileen and invested in the Marilyn Monroe musical after the talented Megan Hilty (who plays Marilyn) wowed him with her vocal chops and seductive wiles.
Jonas told THR last month that there was "definitely" an opportunity for Lyle to return to the series. "Lyle's in this one episode and maybe he'll come back in the future and be involved in another episode. You definitely could see Lyle pop up," he said.
And now that fictional Marilyn production is getting closer and closer to going public in Smash's Big Apple, there's no telling what Lyle's return could mean. Perhaps he becomes none-too-pleased with his eager investment. Either way, it's looking like Smash's finale is sure to be, well, a smash!
What do you think Lyle's return means for the production? Will he be one unsatisfied customer? Smash airs Mondays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
