Game of ThronesIn the last leagues before the return of Game of Thrones to television, fans have gotten a fair share of material to keep the excitement steady. There have been several posters—two declarations of war, an omen of the rise of House Targaryen, and a reminder of Season 1's shocking ending. Additionally, fans have also gotten to hear some words about the show from co-creator D.B. Weiss. Best of all: an exciting Season 2 trailer (teamed with a Simpsons homage).

But die-hard aficionados of Westeros will be truly impressed by this new release: a 22-minute "Inside the HBO Series" video full of footage from the show, and clips of the cast and crew discussing their Game of Thrones characters and stories, which you can watch below.

Game of Thrones' breakout star Peter Dinklage lauds the show for breaking conventional barriers for a fantasy series."I feel like there's some sort of code book that you have to follow in fantasy. With our show, that line is very unclear."

Meanwhile, creators Damon Benioff and D.B. Weiss profess their appreciation for the strength of the show's women. "The strongest characters in the story are female," says Benioff, while Weiss adds, "They are...women who are driven to extreme actions to protect their children." In line with this, star Kit Harington sums up the show's primary theme: "This is about family, and what family means."

The cast and crew share many more fascinating thoughts in the video below. Check it out, and catch Game of Thrones' second season premiere Sunday, April 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
