The dream is finally coming true. For five seasons, The Big Bang Theory has been a standing tribute to science fiction pop culture and all of the genre's devoted fans. TBBT's breakout star, Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons) might well be the poster boy for Star Trek fandom. For years now, Sheldon has professed his adoration for the Star Trek universe's iconic Mr. Spock—immortalized by actor Leonard Nimoy. Finally, Sheldon and America are getting their wish: Nimoy is making a guest appearance on The Big Bang Theory. Unfortunately his appearance will be in voice only, but there's at least visual proof that it happened.
Pictured below are Sheldon and Spock, flashing the "Live Long and Prosper" sign to fans of their work. Nimoy won't be the first Star Trek alum to make an appearance on the show—George Takei's and Levar Burton's cameos were particularly enjoyable. But considering the similarities between the TBBT star and the emotionless, ultra-logical Star Trek hero, we might see Sheldon hitching his wagon to a new Leonard.
