The cast of hit sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond turned into blubbering wrecks when they teamed up for the last time on the Oprah show yesterday.

The actors and actresses recently shot the final show of the nine-year-long series and had problems keeping their emotions in check.

Creator and star Ray Romano thanked his cast mates for bring "magic" to the TV set, adding, "I'm just very grateful that they let me play with them."

Romano then had to hold back the tears when co-star Brad Garrett paid him the ultimate compliment.

He said, "Ray, I wanna thank you for really the greatest time of my life, career-wise, and I wanna thank you for your generosity as a human, as an actor, as a comedian. I am better for being with you and being around you."

Then, Patricia Heaton, who plays Romano's wife on the show, sobbed as she said, "He's a wonderful actor and a great guy."

The tears continued as Doris Roberts thanked her cast mates for "nine wonderful years with my friends, my family".

The final episode of the show, which has been a ratings winner in America for years, will air on May 16.
