Em, 'N Sync, RHCP Big Winners at 2000 MTV Video Music Awards

The Red Hot Chili Peppers, 'N Sync and Eminem were the big winners tonight at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards at New York’s Radio City Music Hall. The Chili Peppers picked up statuettes for direction and art direction along with the Video Vanguard Award. Eminem received Best Male Video, Video of the Year and Best Rap Video as a featured guest with Dr. Dre.

The boy band 'N Sync were the recipients of awards for Best Pop Video, Best Choreography and Viewer's Choice.

Singer-actress Aaliyah also scored big, for "Try Again," her hit single from "Romeo Must Die," in which she costarred with Jet Li. She won two awards, as did Bjork and Macy Gray.

The night’s other winners included: Jennifer Lopez’s "Waiting for Tonight" as Best Dance Video, Sisqo’s "Thong Song" for Best Hip-Hop Video and Blink-182's "All the Small Things" for Best Group Video.

'N Sync Heading into the awards, the annual event was heralded as a battle between ’N Sync and Eminem.

’N Sync and Em scored six nominations apiece. Other multiple nominees included the Chili Peppers, Metallica and Sisquo.

This year’s awards show hosts were "Scary Movie’s" Shawn and Marlon Wayans.
