Jun 12, 2006 | 11:33am EDT

Sex and the City creator Darren Star is bringing the U.K. comedy Nighty Night to the U.S.

Star will write and executive produce an American version of the series, his first since 2000's Grosse Point.

The dark comedy features a beauty-salon owner who has developed an unhealthy obsession with her neighbors.

The British version of the series currently airs on U.S. women's network Oxygen, but the new version will be set in the U.S.

Star will work with the show's U.K. executive producers Steve Coogan and Henry Normal to develop the series.
