Property tycoon Donald Trump has come out blazing at actress-turned-TV personality Rosie O'Donnell with a televised tirade after the League of Their Own star criticized the billionaire for the way he handled the recent Miss USA controversy.

O'Donnell upset Trump, the owner of the Miss USA pageant, last month when she ridiculed him on her talk show The View for giving hard-partying, alcohol-abusing beauty queen Tara Conner a chance to redeem herself during a much-publicized press conference.

O'Donnell went so far as to urge Trump to "sit and spin, my friend," after calling him a "snake-oil salesman."

Trump isn't taking the criticism lying down--after being challenged to "take on" O'Donnell by her critics, the tycoon fired off at her on TV show The Insider last night.

He hissed, "Rosie's a slob... She's also not a very bright person.

"If you talk to Rosie for a little while, she's crude, she's tough, she's arrogant, she's pushy, she's disgusting. In certain ways she's a degenerate."

Trump has made his feelings about O'Donnell known in interviews in recent weeks, but he told The Insider host Pat O’Brien that he's now really out to get his new rival after receiving letters of support.

He added, "I'm surprised that so many people hate Rosie O'Donnell. They hate her. I've had so many letters from women saying, 'It's about time that somebody attacked that woman.'"

O'Donnell's boss and The View co-host, Barbara Walters, issued a veiled apology to Trump on the show yesterday, correcting the vacationing TV personality for claiming the businessman had once gone bankrupt.

That comment prompted Trump to threaten The View and O'Donnell with legal action. He says, "My lawyers really want to."
