The former SportsCenter anchor started his career in sports broadcasting, before hosting his own news program on MSNBC, Countdown with Keith Olbermann. He was most recently the chief news officer for Current TV but was fired in March 2012. Last month it was announced that Olbermann had made a deal with Turner Sports to cover the Major League Baseball postseason on TBS. Olbermann's return to ESPN is surprising, given his abrupt departure from the network in 1997.
"If you burn a bridge, you can possibly build a new bridge, but if there's no river any more, that's a lot of trouble," Olbermann told David Letterman on the Late Show in 2007.
Apparently they've patched things up for the time being. Olbermann's show will start airing on ESPN2 later this year.
