Say it ain't so Steve! In what will surely be devastating news to loyal Dunder-Mifflin (a Sabre company) followers, The Boston Globe is reporting that The Office lead actor Steve Carell, who has played Scranton branch manager Michael Scott since the show made it across the Atlantic, may be leaving the Emmy winning sitcom after his contract expires at the end of next season.

In a recent interview with the BBC, the 47-year-old funny man replied to inquiries about further involvement with the show after his contract ends with the following: "I don't think so. I think that will probably be my last year."

Major bummer. Though there aren't many other details regarding Carell's potential departure, one can assume that the show may not have legs without its star. Sure, there are other hilarious characters and subplots that can be explored further, including Jim and Pam's adventures in parenting, the blossoming romance between Andy and Erin, Darryl's advancement in the company, etc. but even long time fans like myself will admit that it is hard to imagine the show retaining the majority of it's fan base without it's prized star.

Do you think that The Office will continue to prosper without Steve Carell? Tell us what you think!
