Remember, remember! The 8th of November! Mark your calendars, set your alarms, hang a placard around your Lhasa Apso! I don't care what you do -- just figure out how you're going to remind yourself that on November 8th, 2010, Conan O'Brien will make his triumphant return to television! (On a network you've never watched in your life, right? But who cares! TV is TV and Coco is a GO-GO!)
O'Brien was the first one on the stage at the Hammerstein Ballroom here in New York City this morning, when Turner executives announced several new projects they've lined up for fall. It includes an untitled medical show starring Don Cheadle, "Green Detective" from the crime-obsessed brain of Steven Bochco, and something from Jamie Foxx called "Miss Philly," about a detective in Philadelphia. Sounds somewhat decent, yes? But none of those people had their shows taken away by a guy with 35 cars and probably twice as many denim shirts. So we have to keep our priorities straight.
George Lopez will be O'Brien's leadout, and said of the partnership, "50 years ago, a redhead and a Latino made TV history. We're a same-sex Desi and Lucy." Not quite, George, but way to feign enthusiasm for the return of someone exponentially and unequivocally better than you.
