'Glee' Won't Sing Gorillaz Music, Gets Denied Anyway

Oct 12, 2010 | 9:43am EDT

ALT TEXTWell, sounds like someone's getting a little defensive.

Gorillaz lead singer Damon Albarn announced that he will not let Glee cover his band's songs.

"We wouldn't let that happen," he said. "And not that they've asked us because they haven't, and now they definitely won't."

Me-ow! Man. Chill out, Damon. No one from Glee is going to sneak into your house in the middle of the night and steal all of your sheet music, convert it to show choir tunes, and embarrass you on national television. Just because you're pissed that Glee recently surpassed The Beatles for most appearances on the Billboard 100 doesn't mean you have the right to be a dick.

But, as you would expect, Albarn doesn't care. He goes on to note that Glee is "a very poor substitute for the real thing."

"Those songs won't last like The Beatles by any stretch of their imagination," he said. "They'll be forgotten in a few years' time."

Uh, no kidding Captain Obvious? You have got to relax. No one is arguing that the Glee ensemble is more influential than The Beatles. It's just an observation. After all, some of the songs that Glee covers are written by the effing Beatles. No kidding they'll be forgotten in a few years. They're covers!

Here's a tip. Next time someone doesn't ask you a question, don't answer it. You'll save yourself from looking like a huge, self-centered douche.
