Will Ferrell To Guest Star On ‘The Office’

Jan 27, 2011 | 5:13am EST

Will FerrellWell, well, well. It looks like Steve Carell’s departure from The Office will not be met with a bang, but rather a glass of Scotch from Will Ferrell. Scotch scotch scotch scotch. I love scotch.

Ferrell is set to appear on the show for four episodes over Carell’s exit. Paul Lieberstein, the showrunner and lovable Toby, had this to say about discovering Ferrell and Carell, "We found Steve Carell when he was nothing but a movie star and we turned him into a television star. We are proud to continue The Office's tradition of discovering famous talent and we hope that once America gets a good look at Will, they'll see what we see: tremendous raw sexuality.” Ferrell will play another branch manager that is just as inappropriate as Michael Scott.

As I’ve said before, I think the writers will have Michael Scott finally leave the office with a classic and teary “that’s what she said.” With Ferrell now in the mix, that complicates things. I see it now as someone tossing an easy “TWSS” to Michael, but Ferrell’s character will intercept it, undoubtedly angering the departing branch manager. OR...Ferrell’s character had never heard of “TWSS” and vows to start using it all the time. Either way, I really hope they don’t let Ferrell overshadow Carell’s exit. No one deserves to get off right more than Michael Scott.

Yep, that’s what she said.
