Winter is comingWell that was quick. After only airing one episode (and then replaying said episode on EVERY CHANNEL) of Game of Thrones, HBO has already renewed it for a second season. The initial pilot held an audience of 2.2 million but over the course of the night, through repeat showings, drew an impressive 4.2 million total. Not too shabby for a show about knights, dwarves and incest.

"We are delighted by the way David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have brought George R.R. Martin's amazing book series to the screen, and thrilled by the support of the media and our viewers," said HBO programming prexy Michael Lombardo. "This is the continuation of an exciting creative partnership."

I’m sure the infamously deadline-averse Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin is shivering in his beard hoping they don’t get through season four soon. He’s still got 600 pages left to go describing a tree! Oh wait, that burn was supposed to go to Tolkien. Man, these fantasy writers all look the same.
