Glee has a good deal of strength is in its variety of interesting and talented cast members. Unfortunately, Glee's weakness is its frequent choice to keep most of these cast members in the background. While Lea Michele and Chris Colfer are unquestionably gifted, there are many others in the Glee cast who deserve just as much screen time. The series seems to finally be letting this idea sink in, as Season Three will be showcasing some of the more "overshadowed" actors, such as Harry Shum, Jr., who plays Mike Chang.
Not only will we be seeing more of Mike, we'll actually be meeting his parents (including the infamous mother who accompanies Mike and Tina on all of their dates). Cast as Mr. and Mrs. Chang are Keong Sim (The Flying Scissors and The Last Airbender) and Tamlyn Tomita, star of The Joy Luck Club. In addition to Shum, others that creator Ryan Murphy intends to take a more in-depth look at include Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina Cohen-Chang). Most of the rest of the cast has had at least some significant screen time dedicated to them... but we can always hope for more Brittany.
