Oh, Alex Owens. Only you, and only in the 80s, could ever pull off the welder-turned-stripper-turned-ballet-hopeful and make it work. 'Flashdance' was the role that defined Jennifer Beals' career — and certainly broke open the idea that lady strippers/sex workers in general could have a much deeper, broader story than what negative connotations commonly came beforehand.
