2013 Oscar Nominations: Biggest Snubs and Surprises

If Quvenzhané Wallis nabbing a Best Actress nomination was a surprise, just think of how much of a surprise the film's relative domination of this year's Oscar nominations is. 'Beasts' picked up a Best Picture nod and a Best Director nod for Benh Zeitlin. The awards may not be so predictable after all.

With very little buzz, the fantastic film 'The Impossible' was looking to come out on the other side of the Oscar nominations with nothing to show for itself. Luckily, lead actress Naomi Watts was lucky enough to nab the Best Actress nomination and carry the Oscar glory for the film.

While the wildly regarded frontrunner was 'Lincoln,' when the nominations were announced, it was the quirky indie rom-com 'Silver Linings Playbook' (starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence) that streaked ahead, nabbing nominations for Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Adapted Screenplay.
