A movie made by one of Hollywood's resident geeks, Kevin Smith, will naturally be brimming with inside jokes about comic books, Star Wars, movies, and long discussions about comic books, Star Wars, and movies.
Starkly cinematic, Pi is a heady film about a mathematician searching for answers behind a 216-digit number. Geeks will appreciate its cerebral plot, even if it doesn't get all the math details right (like referring to phi as theta).
Any self-respecting Star Trek fan will be left a breathless mass on the floor after laughing endlessly at the many inside jokes about the iconic sci-fi series. Even George Takei and Patrick Stewart found the satire about Star Trek and fandom in general to be absolutely brilliant.
If there was any movie only a geek could put together, it would be Fanboys. With cameos from William Shatner, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Kevin Smith, Ray Park, and Danny Trejo, it's basically a geek's wet dream.
