kim kardashianTonight was the second episode of the two-part E! Special extravaganza known as Kim Kardashian’s wedding. Last night we saw what kind of drama came with planning for the most talked-about wedding of the year, but now it is time to actually carry it out. Like any Kardashian event, it was certainly not lacking in glitz and glamor, but behind closed doors tempers were still running a little high. We left off where Kim pretty much dis-invited Khloe to her wedding because she was questioning Kris Humphries intentions, which Kim did not appreciate. So the two sisters spent some time apart, but eventually reconciled just in time for the bachelorette party in Las Vegas. More drama ensued at the bridal shower – this time between Kim and Kris (mom) -- when Kim announced she was going to change her last name to Humphries. And of course there was all the drama and stress that came with the final preparations for the big day. Then it was time to get to the main event: the actual wedding. Finally!

I’ve noticed that people are very one-sided when it comes to the Kardashian clan. They either hate everything about the family or they can’t get enough of all the details and drama – there’s no middle ground. Luckily for you, I happen to be part of the latter group, so the wedding details were anything but lacking. Food tastings, dress fittings, seating charts, guest list issues – they covered it all and then some. But through all the highs and lows that come with this drama-filled family, Kim ended up getting the fairytale wedding she always wanted. Perhaps there’s hope for these two lovebirds after all.

“Everyone’s in the hating-him phase.” -Kourtney about Kris

Kim and Khloe still weren’t on speaking terms with one another, so Khloe decided she wasn’t going to go to the bachelorette party in Las Vegas. That meant Kris (mom) was in charge of going to the sex store and buying the naughty merchandise for the “penis party.” To makes things even more awkward, Bruce came along and helped her pick out some phallic shaped items and blow up dolls for the party. It’s what every parent dreams of, really. Meanwhile, Kim and Kris were enjoying each other’s company at Kris’s house in Minnesota. But when I say “enjoying each other’s company” I mean that Kim was constantly nagging him about everything that is wrong with his house including his dog memorabilia and framed pictures of his parents on the nightstand -- like, does he really want to be having sex and look over and see his parents? But then she gave him a pedicure and all was forgiven.

“Family at the end of the day is all you got.” - Lamar

Khloe ended up showing up in Vegas for Kim’s bachelorette party and made a whole speech about how she would never miss something as important as this. So after a nice sisterly moment all was right in the Kardashian world again and the girls were ready for a night on the town. The guys also were enjoying themselves in Vegas with plenty of dancing and drinking to chase any wedding nerves away -- for the time being at least. Kris confessed to Lamar that all the fame and attention was starting to get to him a little bit, which prompted Lamar to remind Kris that this is just how things are when you’re with a Kardashian girl. I could understand why Kris was upset since the paparazzi were following them around like crazy, although I’m confused as to why this was brand new information for him. By this point he should know what he's signing up for, so I wasn’t all that eager to jump on his little pity party.

“I think I’m going to change my last name to Humphries.” – Kim

Once the bachelor and bachelorette parties were over, it was time to focus on the bridal shower. Everything was going fine until Kris (mom) overheard Kim mention how she was planning on changing her last name to Humphries. This made Kris very upset since the Kardashians are a family brand and she didn’t think it would be a good decision from a business perspective. She even went so far as to create a mock-up of different ways they could brand the name Humphries including something called the Hump Rope instead of a jump rope, which didn’t seem all that appealing to Kim (can’t imagine why). Khloe and Kourtney also began to question if it was the right decision, so of course this confused Kim. She finally decided to keep her last name Kardashian so her business wouldn’t suffer, but Kris (fiancé) is very traditional and didn’t like that she was once again letting her family push her around. Kim reminded him that the Kardashian name is basically right next to royalty, but Kris retaliated by saying how just four year ago she was basically a nobody. Shockingly, Kim didn’t appreciate his lack of respect for her family’s lineage and stormed out in a huff.

“Seeing Rob in his tux totally reminds me of my dad.” – Kim

Tensions continued to rise to an unhealthy level between Kris and Kim. Kris was still upset that Kim wouldn’t be taking his name and Kim was frustrated about pretty much anything that Kris did at this point. So as a way to retaliate, Kris began growing a mustache that he showed up with at their rehearsal dinner as a way to send a message to Kim. But later that night, Bruce dropped off some of Kim’s dad’s old clothes since she wanted to incorporate something of his into her wedding dress. After looking at all of her dad’s clothes, Kim got a little emotional and had to run into the bathroom to cry since it was all so overwhelming. I actually really developed a lot of respect for Bruce during this scene because he did such a great job comforting Kim. He didn’t get upset or jealous of the fact that she missed her father and wished he could be there for her wedding day. He told her how proud her dad would be of her and promised that he would help her get through this no matter what. It was a really nice, genuine moment, which is a rare commodity on this show. After seeing Kim cry about her father, Kris changed his mind about having Kim change her last name since that way she could still have that part of her dad with her. It was one of the few times that I’ve ever seen Kris act sincere about anything. I didn’t think he had it in him.

“My baby is married. This is what life is all about.” – Kris (mom)

The big day finally arrived. After all the planning and all the yelling, it was finally time to say the “I Dos”. Kris (mom) was overwhelmed with pride while Kris (fiancé) was overwhelmed with nerves, but it was nothing a little heart-to-heart with Bruce couldn’t fix. He even broke down and shaved that ridiculous mustache off his face, giving up his last bit of control. Kim on the other hand was surprisingly calm, especially considering how controlling she has been up until this point. Despite all their previous bickering, she was ready and willing to make her commitment to Kris. Plus, it didn’t hurt that he had surprised her with a huge diamond knot bracelet with two dangling K’s that morning. It was extravagant and overdone – two of Kim’s favorite things, so she was ready to make that trek down the aisle.

Then there was the big reveal of Kim in her wedding dress, all dolled up and even I have to admit she looked beautiful. During the vows they had written sweet, but cheesy things to say about each other (Kim said he is the ying to her yang while Kris said he admired how driven and compassionate she is). Seeing the way the two of them looked at each other seemed to make Khloe a believer that they were the real deal and she finally accepted Kris into the family. There were a few brief moments at the reception where you got to see Kim and Kris’s first dance together as husband and wife, along with watching Kim change into her two other wedding dresses, but don’t get me started on that. To be fair, the two of them did seem genuinely happy together, so I’ll go out on a limb and say these two kids might make it after all. Maybe. Well, if not then there will probably be another E Special about their divorce.
