Editor’s Obsession: Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist

When it comes to beauty products it takes a lot to impress me. After more than 10 years as a beauty editor/director, I’ve tried pretty much every product out there – and a fair share of products that haven’t even launched yet. And while it’s pretty pimp to have a job where you get to test the most luxurious and advanced items on the market, it comes – believe it or not – with a down side. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve left the house looking like a crack head or hooker because the shampoo, eyeliner or exfoliator I was writing about either wasn’t made well or just didn’t work for me.

If you consider how many thousands and thousands of products I’ve tested over the years, you can only imagine how discerning I am. The fact is, not many products become part of my daily routine – especially when it comes to my skincare regime. In fact, there are only 8 products that I use. And only one I can’t live without: Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist.

This toner-like spray is like a daily vitamin for my skin. It contains three potent extracts – rose, pea and clove – that firm and refresh my skin in, literally, seconds. And the peptide-based formula acts as a shield against free radicals, halting fine lines and wrinkles in their tracks. Without it, I don’t look as healthy, hydrated and, well, youthful. It’s so ahhh-mazing I keep multiple bottles around me at all times. There is a bottle in the bathroom cabinet. One next to my bed. And another in my desk drawer.

In the morning, this fine mist helps balance the PH levels of my skin while adding an extra layer of hydration under my moisturizer. Granted, that’s pretty standard as far as toners go. But what I reeeeallly love about it – and what makes Dermalogia Antioxidant Hydramist stand apart from the rest — is how it can be used over makeup. Around 3 pm – just when my skin and makeup are starting to feel dry and look dull – I spritz this bad boy on. I call this ritual my “Mid-day Zhuzh.” Instantly, my skin gets this dewy glow and my makeup looks like it was freshly reapplied. In fact, pre-dinner or date touch-ups are rarely required. One spritz revives my entire look.

While the word ‘miracle’ is normally saved for divine occurrences, this spray is heavenly and a real blessing for my skin. In my opinion, the person who created it should be sainted.
