Because the cat-eye is such a dramatic look, it’s important to keep the face a flawless, fresh canvas. Start off with moisturizer, concealer, and foundation.

To make liner last longer and to prevent creasing, it’s key to start by priming your lids with a neutral base. McAdams used CK One Eye Shadow Base in Simple, a shell pink.

Using your liquid liner or pencil, create a dot to mark the place that you want your wing of the kitten eye to end. The dot should be placed halfway between the end of the eyebrow and the bottom lid.

In one fluid motion, draw a thin line from the dot toward the inner corner of the eye. Use small, thin strokes, and try to get as close to the lash as you can. To mimic McAdams, try CK One pencil eyeliner, and Liquid Liner.

"Don’t worry about it being perfect!” McAdams enthuses, “you can just go over with a Q-tip dipped in moisturizer to clean it up.” You can also use a piece of tape or a Post-It to create a perfectly straight wing.

To intensify the eye, go in with a pencil in your waterline. This will add a bit of oomph to an otherwise simple, flirty eye.

How-to: Cat Eye For Night

To go from kitten to cat eye you need to extend and fatten the line for more drama. Use a felt-tip liner to double the width of the liner by tracing over the top of the preexisting liner. Then extend the wing halfway up to the brow.

Add a soft taupe-y shadow to the crease. This adds dimension to the eye while allowing it to be the focal point of the look. McAdams used a CK One Color powder shadow in Evolved.

For even more drama, pat on the same shadow you used in your crease on your lower lash line.

Don’t forget mascara! Two thick coats of black or dark brown will grab attention even in a dark club (McAdams opted for CK One Color Mascara in Show.)
