The Real Stars of NYFW Street Style: The Men

Normally, we’re busy admiring the outfits on female street style stars like Moda Operandi’s Taylor Tomasi Hill, Lucky editrix Eva Chen, and Harper’s Bazaar’s Joanna Hillman at New York Fashion Week.

But we’ve noticed an interesting trend this season: the men have really stepped up their street style game.

The menswear on the sidewalk is fashion-forward with bold mixed prints, bright colors, interesting textures, and don’t even get us started on the accessories.

We’ve seen sharp hats, velvet loafers, suspenders, and gorgeous silk scarves (worthy of a Miroslava Duma headwrap). What’s caused the sudden onslaught?

“Dudes looking damn good during fashion week has been a thing for a while, but this year stands out because we’re even further into a post-#menswear world,” GQ.com’s Stelios Phili tells us. “More guys than ever check style blogs now and, as hip hop and fashion collide even further, knowledge about emerging trends is becoming more mainstream. We’re out here.”

But Phili says not to worry, ladies. The guys aren’t declaring a street style battle of the sexes.

“Guys are generally competitive with each other, rather than the opposite sex,” he says. “But being able to flex with a stylish lady at your side is always a positive.”
