Our Gang star Leonard Landy dies

Our Gang star has died aged 84.
The former child star passed away Wednesday (26Jul17) editors at Variety magazine report. He was best known for playing one of the ‘Little Rascals’ in the Our Gang series of short comedy films.
Landy appeared in 21 of the film shorts, about a group of poor children, first appearing in 1938’s Feed ’em and Weep, and making his final appearance in Fightin’ Fools in 1941.
Created by Hal Roach, the Our Gang films first appeared as silent movies in 1922, before introducing sound seven years later.
The films continued to be made until 1944, and they enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in the 1950s after being renamed The Little Rascals and syndicated for television.
The series featured 41 child actors in total. In 1980 Landy joined his old co-stars in an Our Gang reunion sponsored by The Sons of the Desert society. His final public appearance came in 2014, when he reunited with eight of his surviving co-stars at a convention staged by the group.
Landy is survived by his wife and two children.
